Our story began in 1985
when our family opened the doors to a small, welcoming hotel with a single goal: to share the genuine beauty of Naxos through authentic Greek hospitality. Since then, three generations have continued this tradition with love, care, and a deep respect for our guests and our island.
Our name, Sphinx, is inspired by one of the most iconic symbols of ancient Greece – the Sphinx of the Naxians. This monumental sculpture, offered by the people of Naxos to the Oracle of Delphi around 560 BCE, stood as a guardian of sacred wisdom, power, and presence. Proudly carved from Naxian marble, it rose over 12 meters high and declared the island’s cultural strength to the ancient world.
Just like the ancient Sphinx once stood watch over the sacred paths of Delphi, our hotel today stands at the crossroads of tradition and modern comfort – just a short stroll from the Old Town and the golden beaches, offering a haven of serenity, heritage, and quiet strength.
In 2025, Sphinx Hotel entered a new era with a complete renovation, blending fresh design and contemporary amenities with the timeless atmosphere that has defined us for decades. The heart remained the same – only the setting became even more inviting.
